App-only borderless bank europeone opens seed investment round

3 April 2017

europeone has opened a seed investment round to fund its launch as a borderless bank after a successful angel investment campaign.

Targeted at the 30 million pan-Europeans working in nations  other than their own, europeone will offer mobile-only banking that works seamlessly across countries and currencies.

Customers will be able to open an account on their smartphone within minutes, using just one form of ID. They can then use the app to make payments, track spending and transfer money at low rates.

“europeone is a company focused on delivering a new banking experience and funding is an essential part of this story,” says CEO Philipp Buschmann.  “As such, I am delighted that we had such a strong response to our first external funding round. To me, it shows validation of both our team and mission.”

About 3 million Europeans move to another EU country each year to work, study or retire, but many of them struggle to access local banking services. europeone seeks to address this problem by developing a product range that meets the needs of this fast-growing expat community.

By offering joint family accounts, as well as banking operations and customer support in users’ native languages, europeone hopes to reduce physical distance between customers and their loved ones. “We believe in your right to live, love and work in other countries,” says Philipp.

europeone plans to launch in Germany later this year and has already opened its doors to customers for pre-registration on its website www.europeone.com.
